Network Change Training Conference (4)

Last week, Postwatch held a Network Change Training Conference. This was addressed by Sue Huggins who is Programme Director Network Change at Post Office Ltd and a long-standing veteran at the business with some previous involvement in Urban Reinvention. She listed the differences between this programme and Urban Reinvention, However, she acknowledged how tough it would be: “We can do a difficult thing very sensitively”.

She told us that the present location of post offices is “a product of history and not design”, but she was adamant that there was not a predetermined outcome for the exercise other than the non-negotiable closure of 2,500 offices nationally: “We do not have a list. You have my word. There is no list”.

She explained that there would be about 50 Area Plans and shortly the exact number and sequencing would be decided. However, there will be no actual closures before January 2008.
