Suspension of Post Office closure programme
Postwatch welcomes the suspension of the post office closure programme during the London mayoral and local election campaigns. This was expected and is in keeping with usual practice before elections.
The closure of a local post office is a sensitive issue. Postwatch is pleased that the case for closure will be considered on its merits and that those involved will not be distracted by political campaigning.
There will be no public consultations or closure announcements between 7th April and 2nd May 2008.
