A new phase
The Consumers, Estate Agents and Redress Bill - which will abolish Postwatch -received its First Reading in the House of Lords yesterday.
The First Reading of any Bill is a formal matter involving no information and no debate. A date for Second Reading - when the main principles of the Bill will be debated by peers - has now been set of 4 December.
The Bill will bring about a merger of Postwatch and Energywatch with the National Consumer Council into a new body provisionally called Consumer Voice. The new body is expected to come into operation early in 2008.

Frankly I have only just heard of Postwatch. Will postal users notice any difference?
Or perhaps what I'm asking is: what difference has Postwatch made while it's been in existance?
