The Queen signs off
The Consumers, Estate Agents and Redress Act 2007 received Royal Assent today.
This is the legislation that will merge Postwatch and energywatch with the National Consumer Council. The Board of the new organisation will have cross-membership with two other consumer bodies: The Ofcom Consumer Panel and the Financial Services Consumer Panel.
The Chair of the new NCC - as it is called in the Act - will be the present Chair of the NCC, Lord Whitty. So far, no date has been announced for the coming into operation of the new organisation - but we'll keep you posted.
