Every customer of Royal Mail has the right to expect that when they send an item through the post that it will arrive on time and in one piece. On occasion, however, this is not the case and the item is either lost, late or damaged. When this happens most people will expect some form of compensation but finding out what they can claim can be a complicated and confusing process.
Postcomm, the postal services regulator, has published the first of three consultation documents on Royal Mail's compensation scheme and invites responses by 13 February 2006. You can see the document
here. Postwatch will be submitting a response which will be published on our
website.
