Posting the way

"Royal Mail is performing better than it has done for a long time. It has been a very consistent, reliable and good service recently. But an organisation like Royal Mail won't turn on a sixpence. Historically, it has been arrogant and hasn't shown 21st-century good customer practice because it didn't think it had to. It has to develop a more customer-friendly outlook."
Judith Donovan, chairman of Postwatch North, quoted in an interesting article in the current edition of "Marketing Week" which concludes with a list of business customers recently lost by Royal Mail.

Whilst I don't agree with deregulated markets, it is a disgrace that the Royal Mail cannot offer competitive prices like its rivals. If competition is what the regulators want, let Royal Mail compete on a level playing field, instead of giving their competitors an unfair advantage when tenders are up for grabs. It is a rigged opening of the market.

I totally agree with you. Royal Mail's hands are tied. But I warn everyone that when the balance of subsidy shifts in the other direction ( and this is happening now, I know of deliveries that are staying in because there is no one to deliver it due to heavy amounts of cost cutting ) then the whole country will be effected with more and more non-deliveries taking place. Postcomm and Postwatch don't see any of this and are not to bothered about it either. The clock is ticking.
