A new blogger on the block
Postwatch has become the first organisation of its type to launch a weblog. But what is this and how will it help?
A weblog or blog has many similarities with a web site. Both use the World Wide Web, both use the same technical language, both can link to any other site on the Web, and both are accessible any time to any one with an Internet connection. But there are differences.
Whereas the material on a web site is usually organised and displayed by subject matter and does not change much from day to day, a blog is organised like an online diary with the latest material at the top of the page and usually new material is added every day or two.
Also a blog usually uses a more informal, conversational type of writing and allows any visitor to post a comment on any item. So a blog is very user-friendly and intrinsically interactive.
We want to use a blog to communicate more often and more extensively with people who are interested in our work and postal matters particularly postal consumers. We want them to be able to read short, accessible items on a more or less daily basis and to be able to comment on any item on which they have views.
Several members of the Postwatch Council and several senior staff members will post items on a regular basis and any member of the public will be able to read the items and to add comments. We hope to add a new item most days, so please bookmark this blog and visit regularly.

This is an excellent and innovative idea.
A sure way of keeping in touch with those that matter - the public.
I have only just stumbled across this blog and think it is an excellent idea.
Because I work from home I physically have to deal with Royal Mail and Post Offices for business and personal use.
I promise to comment frequently!!!
One point though, I'm posting this at 13.52, but it's logged in the preview at 05.50.... Strange?
